Accolade dedicated to volunteers

Lincoln United dedicated their first performance accolade of the season to their volunteers and staff on Saturday before coming from behind to beat Romulus 2-1 and keep their hopes of reaching the Northern Premier League’s top flight alive.

Named as one of March’s winners alongside Stalybridge Celtic and Ossett Albion in the top flight and EVO-STIK League North respectively, the Whites acknowledged the contribution to their success of everyone at Ashby Avenue when they were honoured by NPL representative and official historian Dominic McKenzie.

Like all winners of the of the monthly accolades, the EVO-STIK League South club’s chairman Rob Bradley was presented with an engraved glass trophy to mark their form over the penultimate month of the campaign and a bottle of spirits to celebrate with.

To win their first accolade of the NPL’s historic 2017-18 season, the Whites won six out seven of their league encounters under the guidance of Sam Wilkinson to collect 18 precious points.

Hailing ‘Team Lincoln’, a Whites spokesman Mark Hall said: “While the players deservedly claim the accolades on the pitch having won six out of seven games during the month of March, the off-field team deserve massive credit too for working so hard behind the scenes to run the club. Well done to everyone involved with Lincoln United, you are a credit to the club.”
