Albans, Hallcro awarded Grantham contracts

Joint managers rewarded with deals.

The Board of Directors at Grantham Town took the step of awarding joint managers Jimmy Albans and Wayne Hallcro contracts on Saturday.

The pair put pen to paper after the 3-0 win against Goole in the Evo-Stik League Division 1 South.

“Wayne and Jimmy have done a fantastic job since coming here.” Said Chairman Steve Boam. “We have rewarded some of their signings with contracts and it is only right that they deserve the same.”

Hallcro and Albans are in their third season at the helm of the Gingerbreads and have steadily moved Grantham from a mid-table side through last seasons’ play-off final to be one of the challengers for promotion again this season.

“After a period of change at the club, we are now reaping the rewards of stability.” Mr Boam added. “We can see that through the team that these two have assembled. We have moved to sign a number of them on contract to protect the assets the club has and the managers are every bit as much assets as the players are.”

The Board of Directors have stuck by Hallcro and Albans in the last two seasons when results were not going the right way. A strong late run last season saw the Gingerbreads miss out in the playoff final. Summer additions have strengthened the side and they go into an FA Cup third qualifying round tie at Solihull Moors on Saturday on the back of a good run in the league that has taken the team to the edge of the play-off positions once again.

“Everything that Jimmy and Wayne have done since they came here has been done to drive the club forward.” Mr Boam said. “They have brought an air of professionalism to the club and as a Board, we believe we are on the cusp of something special happening at Grantham. A lot of that is down to the managers. We have been discussion contracts with them for the last six months and it is something they certainly deserve for all their efforts to make things work at this club.”
