Ashton seek new secretary

Incumbent Bryan Marshall to step down

Ashton United are looking for a new club secretary after the present incumbent, Bryan Marshall, announced his intention to stand down with immediate effect.

Bryan said: ‘I intended to step down at the end of last season, but eventually carried on. However, circumstances in both my work and private life have made it very difficult to give the secretary role the attention and time required.’

Robins’ Chairman Dave Aspinall would like to hear from anyone interested in assisting the Club, an established member of the Evo-Stik sponsored Northern Premier League Premier Division. Applications are welcome either from existing club secretaries seeking a new challenge, or persons seeking a first position in sports administration.

The role comprises liaising with the Football Association (primarily through the Manchester FA), The Evo-Stik League and fellow club secretaries as well as managing player disciplinary matters and working in conjunction with First Team manager, Danny Johnson, on player transfers, registrations and obtaining international clearance when necessary. It is expected that the applicant will be able to attend on match-days throughout the season to help fulfil all pre and post-match obligations, however the club will also consider applications from persons unable to attend matches on a regular basis. The person fulfilling the role will be supported as an integral part of the backroom team at Ashton United.

Dave placed his appreciation on record of the job that the outgoing secretary had done since taking over from predecessor John North midway through the 2005-06 season - ‘We have had a succession of decent, hard-working secretaries who have helped the club over recent years and Bryan is right up there with the best of them – he has fulfilled his role with integrity, administered his duties to the full, and been a credit to the club whilst representing them on matchdays, or on club business.’

Anyone interested in further details about the position is requested to register their interest by contacting Chairman Dave Aspinall via e-mail at david.aspinall@hotmail.co.uk
