Ashton United open new community pantry store at Hurst Cross

Pitching In Northern Premier League Premier Division side Ashton United have opened a new pantry store at their home of Hurst Cross, helping those affect by the pandemic.

The club has helped provide facilities at Hurst Cross and has raised funds through the first team squad and coaching staff, and during the lockdown the club opened its grounds to support local families and children.

This initial five week programme is still going strong seven months later and a permanent pantry store opened this week.

Vice chairman of Ashton United Steve Hobson said: "We are thrilled to have been the catalyst for community action. Local people will now run the Pantry Store from Cedar Park and, whilst we will still offer guidance and practical help, hopefully we can safely return to our business of competitive football again."
