Attacker has healing hands now

Former Vauxhall Motors hot-shot Tom Rutter will be using his hands rather than his feet in the EVO-STIK Northern Premier League next season after being named as Colwyn Bay's new physio.

Now a self-employed physiotherapist and appointed by the Seagulls on Monday, the 28-year-old was joint top scorer with Ashley Stott for the now defunct Motors during the 2012-13 Conference North campaign.

After Vauxhall were liquidated, Rutter concentrated on completing his degree in sports therapy and rehabilitation at Salford University and now runs his own business. Before taking the post at Llanelian Road, he helped out with touchline therapy in short spells at Accrington Stanley and Radcliffe Borough and was a player-physio for a time at Knutsford Town.

The physio, pictured taking a sunshine break, is looking forward to getting started after being reunited with Seagulls manager Phill Hadland at the EVO-STIK NPL First Division North club.

Rutter said: “Getting back into regular football on the physio side is something I have been thinking about and this is an opportunity to do that. I know Phill from when we were at Warrington Town together, so when he offered me the opportunity I was delighted to accept.”
