The UEFA A licensed coach was named by player-manager Ryan Austin, pictured, as a first team coach before Kiddy hosted Sheffield FC at The Novus Stadium in EVO-STIK League South.
Former Halifax Town, Kidsgrove Athletic, Leigh RMI, Newcastle Town and Wakefield player Ryder arrives with a wealth of experience having run the youth and development squads at Wigan Athletic, Stoke City and Morecambe where he is currently the League Two club's U21 development squad coach.
Ryder, who's also managed both Alsager Town and Welsh Premier side Conwy Borough as well coaching at Wakefield, Newcastle Town and Norton United, was looking forward to working with Austin before the 3pm kick-off.
"I’m looking forward to getting started with the squad in today’s game against Sheffield at home. We had a good training session on Thursday night to kick things off. Having had a phone call from the club last weekend and a couple of meetings in the week it didn’t take too long to make my decision.
“Kidsgrove Athletic are an ambitious club but currently underachieving regarding their league position. I want to help them reach their full potential and already knowing the majority of the playing squad will hopefully help this be a smoother transition."
He added: “Kidsgrove were the last club I played for before I had to retire through injury. Therefore, I see this as an opportunity to take care of some unfinished business!"
