Bailey Conway returns to Gainsborough

Gainsborough Trinity have confirmed that Bailey Conway has returned to the club from Guiseley.

The 20-year-old midfielder joined the Lions from Gainsborough in June and went on to make three appearances for the club.

Guiseley confirmed that they had agreed to let Conway depart the club after the player expressed a desire to leave, combined with a substantial undisclosed profit being offered by Gainsborough Trinity.

The former Alfreton Town and Rossington Main youngster returns to the Blues where he made 20 appearances during the 2022/23 season, scoring once, and claimed the Supporter's Young Player of the Year award.

Conway was on the sidelines for Gainsborough's recent 4-0 victory over Guiseley.

On his return to the club, Conway said: "I am delighted to be back here and see familiar faces, as well as the new ones around the club.

"I’m really grateful to [Neal Bishop] and Stampy for offering me another opportunity at the club and showing faith by re-signing me.

"I am now fully focused, looking forward to helping the team achieve the targets set for the season. I can’t wait to be back playing in front of the fans this season.

"I know the quality of players that the Guiseley side had on show on Tuesday and Gainsborough produced a positive performance and result.

"It was a typical Bish and Stampy team. Organised, Brave and Exciting. So I can’t wait to be a part of this squad moving forward."

Gainsborough Trinity boss Neal Bishop is thrilled to link back up with the talented youngster.

"Bailey's obviously left in the summer to try somewhere else and we've absolutely no problem with that," he said.

"We didn't fall out. We wished him all the best. And it didn't work out. And now, we are more than happy to welcome him back.

"There are no grudges, there's no hard feelings. He is a fantastic little footballer and he's one of them who will only get better. And we are delighted to welcome him back to the club."
