Bateson, 26, joined the Owls in 2019 from Alfreton Town, scoring five goals in 21 appearances, before departing for Barnton Town at the end of the 2020/21 season.
The attacker began his career at Scunthorpe United and had various loan spells at Gainsborough Trinity.
In 2015, Bateson joined North Ferriby, enjoying a two-year spell at the Villagers where he scored 18 goals in 21 appearances.
After two years at the club, he joined Gainsborough Trinity before moving to Alfreton Town after eight months.
Bateson rejoins Cleethorpes for a second spell at the club and is the Owls fourth signing, so far.

On his new signing, manager Dave Smith said: “Curt is a player of undeniable quality, he found his spark again at Barton.
“I watched him a number of times last season and he won games on his own. A player who could easily play at a higher level.”
