Ben Rydel joins Atherton Collieries

Atherton Collieries have signed versatile Radcliffe youngster Ben Rydel ahead of the new season.

A former captain of Salford City at youth level, Rydel is no stranger to the Northern Premier League, following spells at City of Liverpool and Radcliffe.

He made 29 appearances for the latter - the last which came in October - as they finished seventh in 2022/23, two points adrift of the play-off places.

Rydel has already featured for Colls in three pre-season friendlies to date, showing his adaptability by lining up as both a midfielder and full-back.

He netted his first goal in their 4-0 victory over Prestwich Heys.

Colls begin the new season with a trip to Whitby Town on Saturday 12 August.
