Big freeze wasn't all bad news ...

Barwell manager Jimmy Ginnelly put the weekend's winter wipeout of the EVO-STIK League's programme to good use.

As well hosting a team bonding session on Saturday when his side's game against Stafford Rangers in the EVO-STIK League Premier Division was postponed in the big freeze, Ginnelly took the opportunity to sign midfielder Brady Hickey and former Coventry City and Hinckley United striker Matt Stenson on new contracts.

The Barwell boss, pictured above and below with Hickey and Stenson respectively while they penned new deals at Kirkby Road, told the club's fans: "They're both massive players inside this group of players that have taken us into a top ten league position, which is fantastic for a club of our size.

"I'd like to thank the chairman, Dave Laing, for his full support on these two contract decisions. I'm now going to be asking him to put a few more of this group of players on a contract as I'd like to start planning for next season."

He added: "With Saturday's game being cancelled due to the weather, me and Guy took the opportunity to get all of the lads in for a team bonding session at the clubhouse. It was a great afternoon!"
