Billy Smart signs new Witton Albion deal

Billy Smart has signed a new contract which will see him remain at Witton Albion for the 2021-22 season.

The 26-year-old originally joined the club in the summer of 2018 from Marine, and he has been a mainstay in the Albion midfield for the past three seasons, although two of those have been curtailed early due to COVID-19.

Speaking to the club website, Smart said: "For me, to stay was an easy decision. We had a good start last season before the season was stopped, with the best squad I think we've had since I signed here.

"We would have been strong enough to push for the play-offs.

"Next season, if we can keep the majority of the squad together, and maybe add one or two more, I fancy us to challenge again."

Looking ahead to the new season, Smart says he's looking to enjoy some success with the Albion.

"Personally, I want to play consistently well," he added. "I'd like to chip in with my fair share of goals from midfield.

"And for the team, some success in terms of making the play-offs or a trophy win would be my targets for us in 21/22."
