Black has been putting the players through their paces in training and is delighted with what he has seen so far and said: “Pre-season is going great. The lads have come back fit and strong and are working really hard to push themselves and to get in that team on the opening day of the season.”
There have been a few changes from the squad that finished last season with Kai Hancock, Curtley Martin-Wyatt and Alex Low joining the vast majority of last season’s side. Black said: “The new faces have settled in very quickly and we have a few deals to tie up with players who are going to be real good signings for this club, to go along with what we already have.”
He added: “I cannot wait for the season to get underway, we are keeping everything 'in-house', no photographs, video’s or anything unnecessary. The lads are working hard and that is all people need to know.”
Friday 07 July will see the FA Competitions drawn and Black is looking forward to the outcome for Town stating: “We will hopefully have a good run in both the FA Cup and Trophy this season, they are high priorities for us and all non-league sides. But our bread and butter will be to compete the best we can in the EVO-STIK League, which for me will be the strongest it has been for many years”.
The 2017/18 fixture’s for the league will be announced next Thursday (13 July) and can be seen here on the official EVO-STIK site first.
