A proud Black, pictured, told fans he'd seen “a great team performance” secure the Ingfielders a 1-0 win at Taddy's i2i Stadium in EVO-STIK League North on Tuesday night after Isaac Assenso was dismissed and keeper Leigh Overton saved the penalty he'd conceded.
Town climbed into seventh spot after putting Saturday's Buildbase FA Trophy exit at home to Droylsden behind and Black was delighted to see his team rekindle the kind of spirit that took them all the way to a replay in the fourth and final qualifying round of the Emirates FA Cup last month.
Black, who side travel Clitheroe in the league on Saturday, said: “To go down to ten men for so long and keep a clean sheet just epitomises what this squad is about” says Black “their discipline and work rate to keep Tadcaster out was a mammoth effort. There were some great individual performances and the way the team stuck it out was fantastic.
“We had players having to do jobs that doesn’t come naturally to them and they stuck to the task to ensure the result, one I don’t think should be underestimated under those circumstances. Overall, I am proud of the players who keep on impressing in everything they do, win lose or draw."
He added: “These lads give their all and that is all that we ask for at Ossett Town. Their quality is shining through and the self-belief is there as a group. Now we need to keep going and see where it takes us”.
