Blackpool Trip For Magpies

All expenses paid at Savoy for Premier Division new boys

GARRY Flitcroft and his Chorley players enjoyed an all expenses paid trip to Blackpool in readiness for the new season – courtesy of the club’s main sponsor.

Andy Turner, Managing Director of The Chorley Group, treated Flitcroft and his squad to a night in the seaside resort as part of a team bonding exercise.

The team stayed at The Savoy Hotel and had a night on the town after the Magpies’ 2-1 victory over Squires Gate at the weekend.

The trip was a reward for Chorley’s recent promotion and Flitcroft believes it could help his players in their quest to go up again when the new season kicks off.

The Magpies boss said: “It was a great gesture from Andy.

“When we won promotion in May he said he wanted to mark the achievement by putting something on for the lads and he’s been true to his word.

“If you want to be successful then you need to have great team spirit – it’s massively important.

“When I played professionally, we always used to go abroad in pre-season and that was when you really got to know your team-mates.

“This was a great opportunity to take the lads away for a bit of team bonding, which really helps to foster team spirit. That togetherness was crucial to our success last season and it will be again this term.”

The Chorley Group has been a big supporter of the Magpies in recent years and Mr Turner has just agreed a deal to be the club’s main sponsor for a further 12 months.

He said: “It’s great to see Chorley Football Club on the rise again and we are delighted to be extending our association with them.

“Garry has completely transformed the club over the last 12 months and thoroughly deserves all the success he has had.

“From our point of view, it’s great to be associated with a winning team and long may that continue.”
