Blues Announce Record Sponsorship Deal

Leek Town update

Leek Town Football Club has announced that it has struck a deal with its main club sponsors for a record 15th season.

The club is pleased to announce that Adams Foods will be the club's main sponsor for the forthcoming season.

The deal means that Adams Foods’ sponsorship of the club is now into its fifteenth consecutive season having previously supported the club under their original their brand name of Kerrygold.

Leek based Adams Foods are suppliers of cheese and butter to every major UK food retailer as well as the wholesale, convenience and foodservice sectors and are now home to brands such as Kerrygold and Pilgrims Choice.

With the change of sponsor name to Adams Foods, new signage will be put up around Blues’ Harrison Park stadium and the new logo will be appearing on the club's playing kit this season.

The Board of Directors would like to place on record their thanks to Adams Foods for their continued and exceptional support of Leek Town FC.

>>Woolliscroft returns to Blues

Leek Town Director of Football, Neil Baker, added further experience to his squad on Saturday when he signed former Blues’ defender Ashley Woolliscroft on a one-year deal.

Woolliscroft began his career at Stoke City where he gained first team experience before moving to Telford United making 48 appearances in the 2002/03 season.

The tenacious defender originally moved to Harrison Park in September 2003 from League of Wales outfit Newtown, where he enjoyed a short spell.

He was subsequently made captain at Leek, but after completing 150 games he left in October 2006 to join Kidsgrove Athletic.

Further moves followed and subsequently he moved on to Hednesford Town, Stalybridge Celtic, Fleetwood Town and Stafford Rangers before finishing last season at Ball Haye Green where he helped them to the Staffordshire Senior League title.

>>Pre-season training kicks in

Leek Town Director of Football, Neil Baker, expects his 20-strong squad to turn up in force when he conducts his first official pre-season training session on Tuesday.

Most of the squad have been attending a series of voluntary ‘get togethers’ over the last four weeks but Tuesday will see the full squad at Harrison Park along with a number of other prospective signings as Baker runs the rule over his new charges.

The squad will continue to train on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays until the first pre-season friendly at Ball Haye Green on Friday 15 July 7.30pm.

Blues fans should note that the home friendly against Port Vale on Saturday 16 July now has a kick-off time of 2.00pm.

>>Fixtures:2011-2012

With the new season fast approaching, the release of the Evo-Stik League fixtures and FA competition draws is as ever highly anticipated.

The Evo-Stik League has confirmed that league fixtures will be released on Wednesday 13th July at 9am, exactly one month before the big kick-off on Saturday 13th August.

Meanwhile, the draws for the early rounds in the FA Cup and FA Trophy will be announced on Friday 8th July.

>>Working party

Leek Town Director of Football, Neil Baker, is pleased with the progress made by volunteer working parties held at Harrison Park where the stadium is being given a well earned sprucing up ahead of the new season.

Anyone wishing to help should turn up at the ground next Saturday and Sunday after 10.00am.

Meanwhile, Baker has called a meeting of Blues’ steering committee at the club on Wednesday to firm up match-day organisation and anyone wishing to help out at home games is invited to attend at 7.30pm.

>>Blues Fest: Gavin Bateman reports

The first ‘Blues Fest’, staged at Harrison Park last week, featured five bands throughout the 7-hour gig in the Blues Bar and the event proved to be a great success.

However, a sterling effort from the management committee and backroom staff was required to get the venue ready in time with on-going building work leaving little time to get the Blues Bar in some sort of shape, with a two hour clean-up required before the event could get under way.

Youth kicked off the Fest with Air Flow opening the event followed by promising solo artist Aaron Morgan. The Vibes came on next and all three acts set a very high standard for the senior bands that followed.

As temperatures soared, Down Load performed a good hour’s set and they were followed by Smelt with young Aaron Morgan fittingly coming back on to bring the event to a close.

The organisers would like to express their thanks to all the bands and artists who performed and to Les Critchlow for helping to co-ordinate the gig - everyone contributed to a very successful and worthwhile event.
