Burgess returns to Cables

By James Gordon

BetVictor NPL North West Division side Prescot Cables have re-signed goalkeeper Marcus Burgess.

Burgess, 22, has been playing for West Didsbury & Chorlton where he was recently awarded the North West Counties Football League Goalkeeper of the Month.

Goalkeeping coach Garry Williams said: ”I am delighted that Marcus has rejoined the club. Marcus has a great attitude and is very hard working. He is a pleasure to work with and I am sure he will be welcomed back by all at the club.”

Burgess made his senior debut for Skelmersdale United at the age of 16, and after a spell on Everton’s books, signed for Salford City.

He had spells with Burscough and Bamber Bridge before joining Prescot on loan, where he won the Liverpool Senior Cup in 2016/17.

A loan spell with Padiham followed and he signed for Mossley last summer, where he was dual-registered with West Didsbury & Chorlton.
