Buxton part company with half of managerial team

By James Gordon

Buxton have parted company with co-manager Steve Halford, enabling Paul Philips to take absolute control.

The Bucks currently sit ninth in the table, some nine points off the play-offs, though they do have games in hand on all the teams above them.

They suffered a 2-1 home defeat to lowly Hednesford Town on Saturday in the EVO-STIK League Premier Division.

A club statement said: “After a meeting of the board on Monday evening, Buxton Football Club have decided to take a change of direction with their management structure and continue the season with a single first team manager.

“To this end Paul Philips will be taking absolute control and Steve Halford, by mutual consent, is stepping down. Steve leaves the club with everyone’s thanks and best wishes for his future football career.”

Buxton are in action tonight away at Witton Albion.
