Buxton sign striker Jason Gilchrist

Buxton have announced the signing of Jason Gilchrist from York City.

Gilchrist, 26, played his youth football at Manchester City and Burnley, and made an appearance for England 'C' three years ago.

He joins the Pitching In Northern Premier League Premier Division side with plenty of experience, having previously featured for FC United of Manchester and South Shields.

Manager Steve Cunningham said: "It is great to have Gilly join us here at the Tarmac Silverlands.

"We've watched and admired him for quite some time and he'll give us something extra at the top of the pitch. He's been our number one target and thanks go to the chairman and board for their support in making the move happen."

Gilchrist made his debut in the club's 3-0 victory over Ashton United.

The club have also announced that Dom Tear has agreed to extend his loan from FC Halifax Town for another four weeks.
