Carlton Hopeful Belper Game Will Go Ahead

By Alan Allcock

Suspected arson initially put FA Trophy tie in doubt.

Carlton club officials are working with electrical engineers in an attempt to restore power after the entrance to the Bill Stokeld Satdium was badly damaged by fire.

The Police have indicated that they suspect arson.

The fire brigade were called to the blaze just after 5am this morning and were able to stop the flames just yards away from the clubs sports bar.

We understand however, that Carlton Chairman Mick Garton has been in touch with his counterpart at Belper Town Vaughan Williams and is hopeful that tomorrows clash with Belper can still go ahead.

A further report will appear on the Carlton Town website later on today when hopefully more facts have been established and more news and comment is available.
