Carlton to rename complex

Stoke Lane to be known as"The Terri Sheppard Memorial Sports Arena".

Carlton Town have announced that they are to re-name their outdoor sports complex after Terri Sheppard, a local girl who was tragically killed just yards from the club stadium.

The club also confirmed they will be holding a Mini-Olympics as part of the move.

The event takes place on November 20th, with the re-naming ceremony held on November 4th.

There is also set to be a special presentation for a member of the public who alerted fire crews to the arson attack on 7th October, and also the unveilling of the new sign for the all weather sports complex.

Prizes for the Olympics will be presented to the top 4 teams in a special presentation Christmas Party on Friday 2nd December, with Seven Little Sisters as the special guests, along with the Sheppard family and their guests who will make the presentations.

Club spokesman Tim Harris said "The 1st prize will be 8 seats spread over 2 games (4 at each) in a corporate box at Nottingham Forest along with a winner's trophy for what is likely to become an annual event. The 2nd prize will be Trophy's and Carlton Town matchday hospitality and there will also be trophies for the 3rd and 4th place teams.

"This has really caught people's imagination and I am proud that as a club we are able to do this, my daughter worked with Terri and I know how much she enjoyed coming to the ground with her dad on a Thursday to watch him and brother Danny play five a side. We were going to hold the mini Olympics sporting event anyway but it seemed fitting as it would be the first event after the renaming to call it "The Terri Sheppard Mini Olympics." concluded Harris.
