Celtic snap up young centre-back

Stalybridge Celtic have signed young centre-back Tom Wilson from Hallam FC.

Wilson, 19, made 11 appearances in the Northern Counties East League last season, having re-started his footballing career following a short break after his release by boyhood club Sheffield United.

Manager Simon Haworth said: "I’m delighted to sign Tom.

“He’s a real promising young centre-half who is very athletic and aggressive, but is also a good footballer. He has an excellent attitude and desire to improve and is very hungry for an opportunity."

Wilson added: "The boys have been class with me since I arrived. The gaffer has given me a proper welcome as have the rest of the coaching staff. I’m right up for getting started with the lads, I think the standard is very good and I’m hoping we can kick on right from the off."
