Chasetown unveil £10k Makeover

Premier Division club won Evo-Stik Facilities Makeover competition

Premier Division side Chasetown officially unveiled a £10,000 makeover at their Scholars ground on Saturday after winning a unique club competition run by league sponsors Evo-Stik.

The competition, run in partnership with leading builders’ merchant Travis Perkins, involved clubs submitting a three minute video entry showcasing why they were deserving of the £10k Travis Perkins voucher redeemable against materials to upgrade club facilities.

Evo-Stik received a high number of entries and following the casting of over 8,000 votes, Chasetown FC’s imaginative entry, which included the world’s largest cartridge of Evo-Stik and well known friends of the club, Andy Turner and Alan Wiley, was announced as the winner.

The Scholars have used the money to improve both the disabled facilities and toilets, to relocate the physiotherapy room and for additional fencing at the Scholars ground.

Mike Joiner, chief executive of Chasetown FC, commented: “It’s fantastic to be able to officially unveil the improved facilities at the Scholars ground. The money has been used to enhance the matchday experience for our fans, who demonstrate passion for the club and the non-league game week in, week out.

“Improving facilities at the club for both players and fans is always top of the agenda but is often cost prohibitive, so we were over the moon to win Evo-Stik’s facilities makeover competition.”

Tony Davison, managing director of Bostik UK, who was on hand to unveil the upgraded club facilities, said: “The quality of club facilities in the non-league game varies substantially and many clubs are constantly battling to find the necessary funds. We are delighted for Chasetown FC and especially for their loyal fan base for whom this makeover will make a real difference.”
