Clitheroe hunt for new manager

By James Gordon

Clitheroe are on the hunt for a new manager after parting company with Lee Ashforth.

They finished 18th in the EVO-STIK League West Division, with seven wins and seven draws from their 38 games.

A club statement said: “Clitheroe FC is a well supported club in a growing town. Its ground comfortably meets Level 4 requirements and would require minimal work to meet Level 3 standards, with a new bar, changing room, toilet block and sponsors’ lounge having been installed within the last 10 years.

“The club is solvent and prides itself on living within its means whilst providing an average league budget for players.

Since winning the NWC league in 2003-04, our time in the Northern Premier system has seen limited success.

“The Board is now keen to adopt a three year plan to create a longer lasting foundation, which will allow success on the pitch to increase, a core squad to develop, links with the best local talent to increase and crowds to increase, giving a realistic prospect of providing a club which could operate at Level 3.

The club now seeks a manager (and support team) to be a key part of this plan and to excite fans and to deliver increasing success on the pitch.

“The ideal candidate will have management experience at a broadly comparable level, extensive player contacts, access to formal coaching expertise and a strong work ethic allied to sufficient spare time to make success a reality.”
