Colls sign Liverpool academy product

Atherton Collieries have confirmed the signing of young midfielder Jordan Scanlon on a free transfer.

A product of the Liverpool academy, Scanlon arrives at the Skuna Stadium from Rochdale, where he was on professional terms last season.

During his time at the Dale, Scanlon was sent out on loan to gain Northern Premier League experience with Ashton United and Ramsbottom United - who were managed by newly-appointed Colls boss David Chadwick at the time.

Whilst at the Rams, he netted five goals in 12 appearances.

He has twice represented Colls as a trialist during pre-season and scored a wonderful goal against Blackpool earlier in the month.

“It feels good to sign for the Colls, I’m grateful for the opportunity to showcase what I can do and hopefully excite the fans," Scanlon said.

“I played for Chaddy towards the back end of last season. I feel like we built a good connection and I did very well personally under him, so I’m excited to carry that on and hopefully do the same this year.

"I hope to bring excitement and a feel good factor around the place for the upcoming season."
