Colwyn Bay - Feeling the pinch

By Angela Firth

COLWYN BAY have announced that they have parted company with manager Alan Morgan for economic reasons.

Former Tranmere Rovers midfielder Morgan has been in charge for 10 months and was just two points short of taking Colwyn Bay into play-offs last season. Having lost seven players since the start August reportedly due to the club's decision to cut the playing budget on financial grounds, the management team have struggled to replace senior members of the team.

A culmination of injuries, unavailability and delays in obtaining international clearance has left the squad depleted in recent weeks and has seen the Bay without a win in their last four games. The club then suffered a further financial blow in exiting the Emirates FA Cup at the Preliminary Round.

The following statement was released by the club on Sunday:

Colwyn Bay Football Club can today confirm that it has regrettably parted company with first team manager, Alan Morgan due to economic reasons. The club would like to place on record it’s thanks to Alan for all his efforts during his time with Colwyn Bay and wish him all the best for the future.

Assistant Manager, Craig Hogg, has agreed to take charge of first team affairs, supported by coach, Neil Coverley, while the board considers its options.

A Q&A evening for supporters will be held on Thursday, 13th September at 7:30pm in the clubhouse.
