Northwich Victoria are one win away from matching Macclesfield Town's record of twenty Cheshire FA Senior Cup triumphs after the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League club beat Tranmere Rovers to lift the trophy for the nineteenth time.

The Vics are pictured celebrating at Nantwich Town's Weaver Stadium on Wednesday night after their 2-1 win over the Football League club.

Vics finished off their campaign in style. After a goalless first half, Abou Sanogo scored with a wonder strike nine minutes after the break for the First Division North club before Brian Summerskill doubled their advantage with just under a quarter of an hour to go.

Rovers' replied with an Evan Gumbs goal four minutes from time but Vics held on comfortably to close to within one more win of the competition record.
