Danny Johnson, manager of Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Premier Division club Nantwich Town, has further.strengthened his squad for the forthcoming season with the signature of Mark Jones.

The 27-year-old midfielder, who can also play at centre half or right-back, spent five years at Radcliffe Borough and played over 250 games and was the captain for the last three seasons.

He has also played for Witton Albion and Bradford Park Avenue and after his impressive performances last season where he caught the eye of the Dabbers’ boss, he is ready to step up to the challenge of the NPL Premier Division with Nantwich.

“I have known about Mark for some time said Danny and he has had an outstanding season and possesses the qualities and attitude to make an impact at this level and I am sure the Nantwich supporters will make him welcome and like his no nonsense style.”

Meanwhile, Jimmy McBride has joined Johnson’s management team as chief scout.

Johnson said: “Jimmy is well known on the non-League circuit and boasts a wealth of experience. His former clubs include St Helens Town (twice) Rossendale United, Chorley, Warrington Town and last season he managed Ashton Athletic in the North West Counties League.

“He is a very experienced manager with twenty years’ experience in the non-League game. Jimmy’s main objective will be running the rule over opponents and potential signings over the course of the season while providing me with vital information that will help in pushing the club forward onto the next level.”

McBride said: “After speaking with Danny I had no hesitation in joining the backroom team at Nantwich Town Football Club. The manager is a winner and the enthusiasm he shows in doing the job rubs off on players and staff alike. His determination to succeed is a big positive for the club and something that despite having a number of other opportunities I felt that this position was one that would give me the most satisfaction and I am sure I can contribute to the future success at the club.”
