Dabbers thanked for smoothing deal

Leek Town chairman Jon Eeles has thanked EVO-STIK League rivals Nantwich Town for allowing former skipper Sam Hall to return to the Blues.

Eeles publicly thanked the top flight’s Dabbers on Monday after the EVO-STIK League South club’s manager Neil Baker moved swiftly to sign the 29-year-old former Button Albion star before the weekend to replace Tom Crawford following his recall by Chester City.

Eeles said: “We are delighted that Sam Hall has returned to the Club after deciding to leave Nantwich. We have had to work hard to secure his signature and I would like to thank publicly all the people in the Club who have helped to make this happen.

“Sam has been an integral part of the recent successful Nantwich teams and his quality will improve us. In addition, he is widely respected amongst his peers and is a very popular player amongst supporters. Welcome back to Leek Sam.”

Hall, who also captained the Dabbers and was an ever-present last season, made 128 appearances for the Cheshire club after his switch from Harrison Park prior to the start of the 2015-16 season.

Hall originally joined Leek from Kidsgrove Athletic in July 2012, immediately impressing with his performances in the centre of midfield to win the Manager’s Player of the Season accolade in 2012-13. He skippered the Blues to the play-offs in both the 2013-14 and 2014-15 campaigns, making a total of 153 appearances and scoring eight goals before leaving for Nantwich after losing to Sutton Coldfield Town in the 2014-15 play-off final.
