Defender's arrival kicks off signings

The arrival of Kyle Haynes from Redditch United has kicked off the summer signings of Halesowen Town manager John Hill for next season's EVO-STIK Northern Premier League campaign.

Hill and his assistant Matt Clarke agreed terms for the experienced right-back on Friday before announcing that keeper Daniel Platt, defender Kyle Morrison and striker Michael Turner had also put pen-to-paper on new deals to extend their stays into a second season at The Grove.

Wolverhampton-born right-back Haynes kicked off his career as a junior with Birmingham City before joining Cheltenham Town's centre of excellence. After making his first team debut as a 17-year-old, coming on as a substitute against Oldham Athletic in March 2009, he went on to play for Gloucester City on work experience before enjoying loan stints at Salisbury City and Hednesford Town, making his move to the latter permanent in November 2011 after leaving Cheltenham.

The 24-year-old subsequently joined Rushall Olympic in the summer of 2012, moving on to play down the right hand side for Stourbridge in 2013, Worcester City and Redditch United before linking up with the Yeltz for next term.

A Yeltz spokesman said: "Halesowen have beaten several clubs to the signing of Haynes and we are delighted to have him on board. John Hill and Matt Clarke have already been busy this summer agreeing deals with many existing players and Kyle is a welcome addition to the squad."
