The Scholars are leafing through the club's record books and hoping the EVO-STIK League community can tell them if they've set a league record after no less than nine players made their competitive first team debuts in Saturday's 3-1 opening day defeat at home to Lincoln United.
With only Scholars veterans Curtis Pond and Grant Ryan in the starting line-up for the EVO-STIK League South opener, Callum Lovatt, Jordan Flattley, Spencer Gunnell, Jimmy O'Neill, Chris Baker, George Cater, Jake Lovatt, Frankie Baigent and Muzzy Nduna were all new faces after being brought in by manager Scott Dundas since his arrival this summer.
According to Scholars press officer Paul Mullins, a total of ten players actually made their first league appearances for the Staffordshire club after Dundas also picked Josh Sedgley. In his round-up of the facts and stats from the fixture for fans on Saturday night, Mullins also revealed that of the 14 players utilised by former Newcastle Town boss Dundas, Pond and Ryan accounted for 111 of the 116 appearances between them!

Scholars fans were also left with a feeling of deja-vu this weekend after a 3-1 opening day defeat at the hands of Shaw Lane last August. Scholars supporters won't have been surprised by their new look side though after more than 40 quizzed Dundas at a 'Meet the Manager' forum at Church Street this week.
Fans and officials with details of their own club's summer clear-outs if the results were nine debutants or greater should contact Mullins at: paul.mullins02@hotmail.co.uk.
