Dundas backed with two year deal

Scott Dundas and his touchline team are looking forward to guiding promotion-chasing EVO-STIK League Chasetown until 2020.

The Scholars rewarded the former Alsager Town, Norton United, Witton Albion and Newcastle Town boss, pictured, with a new two year contract on Tuesday night after his side climbed into the EVO-STIK League South play-off zone with a 3-1 home win over Market Drayton Town.

Appointed last summer as the successor to Dave Stringer at The Scholars Ground after leaving Newcastle's ‎Lyme Valley Stadium, Dundas made his name in management steering Norton United into the Northern Premier League with two promotions in three years before taking the now defunct club to the first round of the Emirates FA Cup.

In a statement announcing the news, the Scholars said: "We are delighted to announce that our first team manager Scott Dundas has signed a two year contract with the club to remain as manager through to 2020. The club is extremely pleased with the progress Scott, his backroom staff and players have made so far this season.

"We all have the same drive and ambition to progress the club on and off the pitch. This announcement underpins that ambition with continuity and stability which has always been a high priority for the club."

The club added: "Scott has developed a promising young group of players and this announcement will also help Scott and his staff to continue to develop the squad and build on the progress already made this season."

The sixth-placed Scholars host Belper Town on Saturday as they bid to cement a play-off spot and Dundas told supporters he was thrilled that assistant manager Anthony Buckle and his backroom team had also agreed to stay on until at least the end of the 2019-20 campaign.

Dundas said: "Ant and myself are delighted to have been offered a two year contract to manage this wonderful football club. All my management team Birty, Dave, Dave, Rich and Keegan are on board and looking forward to whichever league/challenge we are in, with Mick and the directors showing real ambition to progress up the Non-League ladder.

"This season has been a hard but rewarding one with bringing so many young players into the squad. This is something that we feel we can build on to enable us to have even better future seasons. The new players and supporters have interacted extremely well and I can’t thank the supporters enough for allowing these lads the time to grow into this level of football, home and away they have been loud and proud and long may that continue."

He added: "The people in and around the club, too many to mention, have welcomed us in with open arms. It is a very well run organised, stable, family club which made the decision to accept the contract easy."
