Duo strengthen Leek Town

By James Gordon

Leek Town have signed Crewe youngster Billy Sass-Davies on loan and Jack Sanders from Charnock Richard.

Sass-Davies, 18, went straight into the team to face Colne last weekend and is in his first year as a professional.

He replaced club captain Scott Lycett, who faces a number of weeks on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.

Defenders Marc Bailey and Joe Kearns have also left the club recently.

Also signing is Sanders, who previously played for Padiham, and played against Leek in the FA Cup earlier this season.

The EVO-STIK League West Division side have lost their last three games.

Boss Neil Baker said: “We’ve been a match for all the teams in our last three games but ended up losing - that shows a fragile mentality.”

Their next game is a trip to Mossley in the league this Saturday.
