Dyche takes time out to help Blues

Pictured with Clitheroe chairwoman Anne Barker after Thursday night's event, Dyche teamed up with Blues boss and former Welsh international Simon Haworth to entertain fans at Shawbridge with tales from their careers, together with insights on the modern game.

The fundraiser, which included a pie and peas supper and auction, was staged to boost the EVO-STIK League North club's finances after the historic Shed End at Shawbridge was flattened in March when the so-called 'Beast from the East' met Storm Emma.

Hailing a successful event, @ClitheroeFC tweeted: "What a night! Now 46, former defender Dyche is enjoying his third Premier League campaign with Burnley since first entering into management with Watford in 2011 after spending three seasons with the Hornets towards the end of his playing career before hanging up his boots at Northampton Town in 2007.

Howarth, 41, won five caps for Wales and is now in the second year of his first managerial role with the Blues. In 242 games up front for Cardiff, Coventry, Wigan and Tranmere, he scored 83 goals before injury brought a premature end to his exploits as a striker. Since gaining his UEFA A and B coaching badges while working at Shrewsbury Town and Stalybridge Celtic, he's been looking to make a similar mark as a manager.
