East Preview: Morpeth out to extend lead at the top

By James Gordon

Top of the league Morpeth Town will be out to consolidate their spot at the helm of the EVO-STIK League East Division this weekend when they take on an out-of-sorts Lincoln United.

The Whites’ recent form has seen them drawn towards the lower reaches of the table, but they will have to be on top of their game to end a run of one win in 10 games against a Morpeth side that have lost just twice on the road all season.

Behind the league leaders, the four current incumbents of the play-off spots are all on home soil.

Second-placed Brighouse take on a Stamford side with just three defeats in their last 10 games, whilst Pontefract Collieries play host to Loughborough Dynamo.

Sheffield FC welcome Carlton Town to the Coach and Horses Ground and, despite having a better record on their travels than on home soil, Tadcaster Albion will be hoping to pick up maximum points against 14th-placed Wisbech Town.

Just outside of the play-offs, Ossett United will fancy their chances of securing an eighth win in 10 games against AFC Mansfield, while Marske United travel to Linden Club to face seventh-placed Cleethorpes Town.

Elsewhere, Belper Town host Stocksbridge Park Steels having won three of their last four games, while basement battlers Gresley FC and Pickering Town face off at the Moat Ground.
