East Round-up: No stopping Morpeth

They scored three goals in the final half an hour to beat Spalding United 3-0, while closest rivals Brighouse Town were beaten 5-2 at Loughborough Dynamo.

Dynamo had five different goalscorers and led 3-0 at the break, before holding off a Brighouse rally that brought them within a goal.

Pontefract Collieries moved within a point of second placed Brighouse thanks to Jake Picton’s solitary goal at AFC Mansfield.

Sheffield missed out on the chance to jump in to second place as they went down 3-1 at Wisbech Town.

The game was level at 1-1 at half time, but two goals in two minutes in the final quarter from Toby Hilliard and Danny Setchell earned the hosts only their sixth win of the season.

Tadcaster Albion are now two points behind Sheffield after they won 3-0 at Stocksbridge Park Steels.


Aiden Savory gave them a first half lead, and he added his second late on after Corey Roper had made the game safe.

Ossett United are a point off the play-offs after their 2-0 win at Stamford, Karl Jones and Tom Greaves the scorers, while Cleethorpes Town are still within reach of the play-off places after winning 2-0 at Pickering Town.


They left it late though, Danny North scoring a penalty with 18 minutes left and Mark Gray adding a second.

Belper Town scored a late equaliser to rescue a point in a 2-2 draw at Marske United, while Gresley ended their nine game losing streak with a 1-1 draw at Frickley Athletic.

Elsewhere, Carlton Town beat Lincoln United 3-1, with all the goals coming in the first half, including a brace for Tyler Blake.
