NPL stars on the road to America

International update for those playing in FIFA World Cup qualifying.

There's no rest for some of the stars of the Northern Premier League as the World Cup qualifiers take place across the globe for the 2026 tournament in North America.

In the CONCACAF section, It was a tough start for St Kitts and Nevis featuring Radcliffe's Lois Maynard and Jameel Ible (Guiseley) as they were beaten 4-0 by Costa Rica in the opening game.Both players were booked during the match but played the full 90 minutes. Ible did not feature in the second match but Maynard also played the Full 90 minutes in the 1-0 win over Bahamas, picking up a 2nd booking up in the 89th minute, triggering a Suspension. St Kitts are placed 3rd in a Group also containing Grenada and Trinidad & Tobago

New Sporting Khalsa signing Isai Marselia scored for Aruba in the 2nd match of the Aruba Qualifying Campaign against Saint Lucia (which featured former Atherton Collieries defender Josh Solomon-Davies) as part of his 66 minute appearance in the 2-2 draw. Marselia also featured for the full game in the 2-0 defeat to Curacao leaving them 4th in Group B with Barbados and Haiti still to play

Walsall Wood's Dale Eve and Rugby Town's Roger Lee helped earned a point with Bermuda in their opening match against Antigua and Barbuda, again both players featuring for the full match in a team featuring ex NPL players Kole Hall, Dante Leverock and Ne-Jai Tucker. However this was followed up with a 6-1 defeat to Honduras. Both players also played the full 90 minutes however Lee picked up a booking late on in the second half. Bermuda are bottom of their group following the 2 games so far in the qualifying and would need to win both remaining qualifiers in September to reach the Third Round of Qualifying

Though all 3 sides will not feature in any further Qualifiers until September, the start of the Gold Cup qualifiers (which double up as part of the CONCACAF Nations League) continue over the Summer where Bermuda and Aruba feature in the B Division in seperate divisions while St Kitts are favourites to promote from the C Division.

Over in the CAF(Africa) region,,Tyron Cadeau made his debut for Seychelles in the 77th minute in their 5-1 defeat to Gambia, which featured former Warrington Rylands striker Adama Sidibeh scoring a minute after Cadeau's introduction.

Tyron did make a start in the 3-1 defeat against Burundi , being subbed off in the 7th minute

Not part of World Cup qualifying, Stalybridge Celtic's Scott Wara is featuring for FIJI in the OFC Nations Cup - A 54 minute appearance in the first group game which Fiji beat Papua New Guinea 3-0
