Roms Announce Academy Partnership

Romulus update

Richard Evans, boss of Romulus FC, was "excited about the possibilities" this week as he announced the club's new partnership with a nationally renowned football academy.

The Coles Lane club are set to have first refusal on the potential stars of the future produced at the Pat Wright Academy, which has helped to launch the careers of current Northern Ireland international Sean St. Ledger, Welsh international Mark Bradley, and Derby County midfielder Ben Davies, along with a multitude of other players in the Football League and non-league circles.

Romulus will provide a platform through their first team and Under 21s sides for young players that haven't yet experienced first team football, offering the chance to impress the Roms' management and prove they are good enough for the Northern Premier League and beyond.

Evans said "While we will continue to develop our own players through our successful youth system, we've known of Pat and his academy for a number of years- it will be a partnership where the best youngsters get the chance to shine.

"Pat has many contacts throughout the professional and semi-professional leagues, and if we feel these lads are ready to move up the ladder, then we will ensure that this benefits both the players and the club."

Wright, a first team regular at Birmingham City during the 1960s, has progressed his academy over the last 30 years while also coaching and managing in the professional game- his impressive CV includes spells with Portsmouth and the Saudi Arabia national team.

Based from St Francis of Assisi School in Aldridge, the academy offers starter, intermediate, and advanced coaching on Wednesday and Friday evenings. There will also be a summer school from Monday 8th August-Thursday 11th August. Anyone interested in knowing more should contact Pat on 07980 505389 or visit patwright.co.uk
