Runcorn Linnets sign defensive duo

Runcorn Linnets have announced the signing of Connah's Quay Nomads centre-back Tom Moore and fellow defender Sam Heathcote.

Moore becomes the third player to make the move to Linnets from the Welsh Premier League this summer, following in the footsteps of winger James Ellison and goalkeeper Andy Coughlin.

The in-demand defender has European experience, scoring for the Nomads during their defeat to Kosovan side Prishtina in the qualifying rounds of last season’s UEFA Europa Conference League.

The club say they have fended off interest for his signature from clubs in Scotland and also higher up the football pyramid in England.

However, he will play his football for the Pitching In NPL West Division outfit when the new season kicks off next month.

Meanwhile, towering 6’4 defender Heathcote arrives at the APEC Taxis Stadium from West Didsbury & Chorlton.

He captained his previous club to the North West Counties League Division One South title in 2021-22.

The former Manchester United junior played as a striker in his youth, and lists Altrincham, Hyde United and Wythenshawe Town among his previous clubs.
