Town keeper breaks foot

Newcastle Town update, by Ray Tatton

Newcastle Town were dealt a blow in training last week when highly rated young goalkeeper Dave Parton suffered a foot injury. X-rays at the hospital the following morning revealed that the keeper had broken his metatarsal and is expected to be out for about six weeks.

Manager John Diskin moved quickly to take Nantwich Town keeper Ben Chapman on loan for a month. This is the second time that Ben has been on loan at Castle this season having covered earlier in the season. All the paperwork was faxed so that the player could play at Kidsgrove on Boxing Day.

Newcastle Town have signed former midfield dynamo Chris Boast. Chris was an important part of Town's successful side in the Vodkat League but has been unable to play for a while due to personal circumstances. However he is friends with one of Town's new rising young stars, Jack Harrison, and when he mentioned that his situation had changed and that he could now resume is football career Jack mentioned it to John Diskin and the manager took no time in signing Chris up.

Chris originally signed from Biddulphn Vics and his energetic midfield performances saw him reach double figures in his goal tally each season. Manager John Diskin is hoping that Chris is soon back to full match fitness and playing his part in Castle's improving young side.
