Burscough Take Steps Forward

Club looks to put off-field issues behind them

Evo-Stik League Premier Division side Burscough are looking ahead to a new era after the appointment of Gary Wright as chairman.

Wright has laid out a number of aims for the club, foremost of which is a new stadium in the village.

The life long fan has also stated that maintaining Premier Division football is a big priority, but more importantly Wright is keen to re-establish some trust between the club and the supporters.

On the field, Director of Football Dave Hughes says that he is very pleased with how the preparations are going.

“Pre season training has been going very well and we are looking forward to the start of the season. The standard of league this season is going to be particularly high; however we have high ambitions with the quality of players we have got available.

"Everybody at the club is upbeat and we are looking forward to the start of the season. Chris has assembled a good squad of players with a mixture of youth and experience.

"Dave Thompson, the new assistant manager brings bags of experience with him, league and non-league and obviously the pair of them are top coaches."

The club have also announced their new ticket pricing initiative for the season (at the bottom of this article) as well as encouraging greater community links by introducing football coaching sessions and youth team matches at Victoria Park throughout the year.

There are also plans for the club to try and work in with schools in the local area, and Commercial Manager Ash Fletcher says, "Once these initial projects have been established we will be looking to further expand the range of activities BFC will be taking on in the community."
