Former Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher will be the guest of honour at next month’s NPL Players Awards evening.

Gallagher was a FIFA-listed official and officiated in every season of the Premier League since its inception up until his retirement in 2007.

In recent years he has become well known for his role on TV with Sky Sports and their “Ref Watch” segment.

He refereed the 1996 FA Cup final, won by Eric Cantona’s goal for Manchester United against Liverpool, and officiated at Euro 96.

In 1995, he was the man in the middle for the FA Trophy final between Woking and Kidderminster Harriers.

The NPL Players’ Awards takes place in Barnsley on Sunday April 19, where the annual award winners of Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year and the Team of the Year for each division, amongst other awards, will be revealed.
