Monday's Premier Division review

By David Watters

Stourbridge moved joint-top of the EVO-STIK League Premier on Monday night thanks to striker Jordan Archer’s last-minute winner against Coalville Town at the War Memorial Ground, writes Pitchero's Steve Whitney.

The Glassboys, who have now won nine of their last 11 games in all competitions, started well to force visiting keeper Matthew Coton into a good save from Devarn Green’s low effort 16 minutes in.

Coalville went close to finding the opener six minutes later, Blair Anderson’s in-swinging free-kick just evading defender Dean Freeman and the far corner of the net. But the Glassboys were rewarded in the 34th minute with the opening goal when a loose ball fell in the box fell for winger Matt Dodd to fire in.

The Ravens equalised eight minutes into the second half when Lee Cox finished off Anderson’s cross at the back post and the Glassboys struggled to gain a foothold in the second half before beginning to push Coalville back.

McCone headed just wide from a Forde corner with 15 minutes to go before the vital second goal arrived as the match entered added time, substitute Danny O’Callaghan’s ball into the box finding Archer for the striker to finish clinically past Coton.
