Ryan in charge as successor sought

McIntosh's number two, pictured, was named as interim manager on Wednesday night following his departure from Silverlands 24 hours earlier before Bucks officials issued a statement on Thursday setting a deadline of Wednesday 21 February for potential candidates to apply for their newly vacant post.

A Bucks spokesman said: "After the departure of manager Martin McIntosh on Wednesday, his assistant Tim Ryan has agreed to take on the role of caretaker manager until the appointment of a new manager is made. Buxton FC invite applications for the post of first team manager/player-manager. Applications, which will be treated in the strictest confidence, should be made via email by Wednesday 21st February to club secretary Don Roberts at admin@buxtonfc.co.uk."

McIntosh was the EVO-STIK League Premier Division club's second longest serving boss after six years at the helm since taking charge in 2012. After guiding the Bucks clear of relegation in his first season, he led the Derbyshire club to three top 10 finishes in the top flight, including just missing out on the play-offs last term.

Ryan takes charge for the first time on Saturday with top flight leaders Altrincham arriving at Silverlands and the Bucks in 15th spot in the table and 10 points off the play-off berths after last weekend's 2-1 reverse at Barwell proved to McIntosh's final outing as Bucks boss.
