Westerby success for Loughborough

Dynamo cap impressive season

Loughborough Dynamo capped an impressive season on Tuesday night beating Conference side Hinckley United 2-1 to win the Leicestershire County FA Westerby Cup Final 2-1.

Shawn Richards scoring the opener for Dynamo in the first half, a Craig Farrell equaliser for Hinckley sent the game into extra time, where Dom Brennan, who has played most of his football this season in Dynamo’s Under 18 team, scored the extra time winner.

This is Dynamo’s second success in the competition in three seasons and with Quorn winning the cup last season gives the Evo-Stik NPL three wins on the trot.

The night was also notable for Dynamo captain Karl Noble (pictured) who made his two hundredth appearance for the club, the second Dynamo player this season to achieve this landmark.

Dynamo Chairman Frank Fall added that the credit goes to the Management Team, in their first full season in charge, and the players who kept the training sessions going to the cup final weekend and further showed their comittment to the cause by refusing to buckle under the second half onslaught from Hinckley to run out winners in a gruelling extra time. The victory was a just reward and adds further creditability to the belief that we are becoming accustomed to this level of Football, next season we can perhaps look to improve on this season 8th position.
