England U18s train at Nantwich

Dabbers also announce Brain contract extension

The England under 18 squad prepared for their International friendly match with Poland with a training session at Nantwich Town's Weaver Stadium this morning.

The International Friendly takes place at Crewe Alexandra's, Alexandra Stadium, tonight with kick off at 7.30pm and with great value for money ticket prices, it's a great opportunity to see the stars of the future including Crewe Alex stars Nick Powell and Max Clayton in action.

Nantwich Town chairman, Jon Gold is delighted to host England's stars of the future as they prepare for tonight's game.

He said: "This is a great honour for the club and testimony to the quality of pitch and all round facilities that we have here at the Weaver Stadium.

"We are very proud to be once again welcoming International teams to Nantwich, it's great for the local community, our commercial partners and all the staff that work so hard to make the Club what it is."

The club have also announced that goalkeeper Jon Brain has signed a contract extension.

Brain will now remain between the sticks for the Dabbers for a further two years.

Nantwich manager, Jimmy Quinn, is delighted to keep Brain who he believes is the ‘best keeper in the division’.

He said: "This is excellent news and provides us with the foundation to build for an exciting and successful campaign next season.

“Jon is in my opinion the best keeper in the league and, probably above, the fact that he is prepared to commit his immediate future to us, shows the belief he has in the Club, it's supporters and our ambitions.

“We are working hard behind the scenes well in advance of next season to secure the key players that we believe will help us to be ultimately successful.

“I want to go into next season with the basis of a settled and familiar side and hopefully there will be more announcements in the near future on this."

Brain himself commented on how much he has enjoyed his first year at the Weaver Stadium.

"My first season at Nantwich has been a really enjoyable and exciting one,” said the ex-Macclesfield, Port Vale and Walsall stopper.

“Whilst there have been some disappointments, there have also been some very rewarding successes and even though I have had offers from Clubs in higher divisions I sincerely believe that with the tremendous facilities, support and ambitions that the Club have, we can achieve them together here and that's why I am prepared to pledge my future to the Club.

“I would like to take the opportunity to thank the supporters, management and Directors of the Club for making me so welcome in my first Season and I look forward to some exciting times ahead".
