Evans hails Roms bouncebackability

Romulus update, from Andy Mitchell.

ROMULUS boss Richard Evans hailed his side's response this week after bouncing from a poor 0-2 defeat against Goole to record a 4-1 victory over Kidsgrove Athletic.

A flat display lead to a comfortable victory for Goole last weekend, but Evans' charges hit back two days later, with Nathan Blissett's hat-trick inspiring the Roms to a much needed victory.

On the Kidsgrove match, Evans said: "We took our chances for once - there have been many good performances this season where we haven't, so it was pleasing to see it all come together.

"Goole fully deserved their victory on Saturday and we told the lads we were looking for a response.

"Taking the three points on Monday was a big help, this is a very competitive division this season."

Evans takes his side to Lincoln United this Saturday before another Monday night home match against Rainworth Miners Welfare (5th Dec, Coles Lane, KO 7.45pm).

"I keep saying it every week, but they are all tough games in this division - just when you think a team is pulling away or starting to do well, they get turned over by someone looks to be struggling."

The Roms moved out of the bottom six with Monday's victory, but are still just five points clear of the bottom two - yet if they beat Lincoln by two goals this weekend, they will leapfrog a side that currently sits four places above them.

Evans expects Rob Evans and Marcus Brown to be injured for both clashes, but the returning Ben Richards-Everton will be available.

MONDAY will be a special night at Coles Lane as boss Richard Evans celebrates his 45th birthday.

The long serving manager insisted all he wanted was three points for his side, promising birthday cake after the match if the Roms won!

EVANS revealed this week that there is ongoing Football League interest in Romulus frontman Marvin Johnson.

"He's been doing really well under the spotlight and we've had scouts from many League clubs watch him more than once, icluding six from the Championship."
