Evans; "Hucknall Will Be Tough Test"

Romulus update

Romulus boss Richard Evans was buoyant ahead of his sides opening fixture this week, but warned his side that their opener against Hucknall Town (Saturday, at Coles Lane, KO 3pm) would be a 'tough test'.

Relegated from the Premier Division last year, Hucknall have been beset by financial problems, an £84,000 tax bill meaning they will operate with no playing budget for the foreseeable future.

But despite their loss of players, Evans says they will be no pushovers on the opening day.

"Anyone expecting an easy game from Hucknall will be mistaken, they watched us last Saturday and their managers will have them well organised.

"Its the worst time to play a side that's had money troubles because they will have young lads out to prove something- they'll have nothing to lose.

"They've also held onto two former Conference National players, so they won't be short of experience.

"We will treat this as we would any other game, there are no easy games in this league, but as always, as long as we are focussed, we can feel confident about winning."

Evans should have a full squad at his disposal- including former Cheltenham Town and Mertsham full back James Hancock, and ex-Kidsgrove Athletic striker Nathan Blissett, who both impressed in pre-season- but the Roms chief was tight lipped about his starting line-up.

"We've had a great pre-season and we have some good footballers this year- the starting eleven will be a tough choice, but its a nice headache to have.

"Lots of players are in contention and the lads can't wait to get started."

After Saturday's opener, Romulus are on the road in their next two league games, travelling to Loughborough Dynamo on Tuesday night before heading to Market Drayton Town next Saturday.
