Ex-FC United duo boost Rammy

EVO-STIK West Division side Ramsbottom United have signed former FC United defenders Tom Eckersley and Kyle Jacobs.

Eckersley, 26, can also play in midfield and made his debut in the Integro League Cup tie against Clitheroe last week.

He signed his first pro contract at Bolton, before moving on to Accrington Stanley, from where he had loan spells with Stockport and Barrow.

Standing at 6’4”, Eckersley played 32 times for FC United in 2016/17 and also counts Tamworth, Rushall Olympic, Fylde, Witton Albion, Curzon Ashton and Ashton United amongst his former clubs.

Jacobs, 31, played 140 games for FC United and has also played for Macclesfield, Stockport, Chorley and most recently, Ashton United.

The pair boost Mark Fell’s defensive capacity, with Ramsbottom currently 11th in the table, having conceded a modest 12 goals in eight games.
