Exciting young midfielder joins Consett

Consett have signed talented young midfielder Jack Caygill.

The 18-year-old, who is a scholar at the Sunderland AFC Foundation, is a central midfielder with senior experience from his time with Northern League side Billingham Synthonia.

He has already represented Consett, playing for and captaining their U18s in this season’s FA Youth Cup.

He has also represented Seaton Carew in the Wearside League.

Caygill joins a Consett side currently fourth in the Pitching In NPL East Division. They have won eight of their opening 13 league matches and sit four points behind league leaders Hebburn Town.

Chairman Frank Bell said: “We’re delighted to welcome Jack to the club. He is an exciting prospect who is only going to get better.

“Hopefully he is going to be one of many players that we see coming through via the close links that we have with Sunderland AFC Foundation.

“He is a good technical player who can play in a number of positions. He is also extremely hard-working and plays football with passion and desire.

"With all these attributes, I’m confident Jack will make it at this level.”
