Eye-catching November for Park Avenue

Bradford PA update, by Lewis Sale.

Bradford (Park Avenue) produced some eye-catching results in the Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division in November, winning four out of a five possible games, conceding only two goals.

The Avenue are currently in 5th place, holding four games in hand over their nearest rivals Chorley and only trail the Magpies by four points. The beginning of Bradford's good form started with a last minute victory over league leaders Chester FC at the Horsfall Stadium, thanks to a last minute goal from Pakistani international Adnan Ahmed.

Following that particular win, Stocksbridge Park Steels were the next visitors to Bradford. But, they entered the game on the back of manager Garry Marrow resigning from his position. Despite a valiant effort, the Steels fell short to Avenue, who ran out 2-0 winners.

The next league took place a fortnight later after featuring in the FA Cup with Budweiser First Round, at Hurst Cross. Bradford were dominant throughout the game, but were unable to break down a stubborn Ashton United side, until to the last minute, when strker Aiden Savory struck a super right footed strike into the bottom corner.

The only defeat during November was to Marine at the Horsfall Stadium. The Avenue were served their own dish of revenge, as substitute Aaron Rey hit a stunning strike into the top corner in the last minute. Nevertheless, Avenue bounced back in fine fashion the following week, brushing aside Chasetown 4-0, producing an exhibition of quality football.

At the same time, Avenue saw several players go through the revolving door, as Alex Noteman (Harrogate Railway), Matty Plummer (North Ferriby United) and Jimmy Beadle (Whitby Town) left the club, and striker Dempsey Smith signed on the dotted line from Garforth Town.

Chairman of Bradford (Park Avenue) Dr John Dean commented: 'The month of November has been very fruitful for the club. We were proud to be one of the two teams (Nantwich Town) that represented the Evostik Northern Premier Division in the FA Cup with Budweiser First Round.

"Also, we have progressed into the next round of both the Doodson Sport Cup and the West Riding County Cup. I have to say that this month's results have been very impressive, and the perfomances, notably the game at Chasetown, have been extremely encouraging. The senior players are hitting their form, and our younger members of the squad such as Jordan Deacey, Michael Duckworth and Billy Law have contributed immensly during November. As a club, we are heading into December with some big fixtures scheduled, and are relishing the challenges that await us."
